PetWalk Protected

PetWalk Protected is a protection program, not insurance. It is a discretionary reimbursement program, supported by a master liability policy on in-app bookings, included free on every booking made and paid through PetWalk. This is a plain-language summary; consult the current terms and your legal counsel before relying on it.

What PetWalk Protected is

PetWalk Protected is included at no extra cost on every booking made and paid in-app. It acts as a backstop: it can help with eligible vet costs if a pet is injured during a covered booking, and with property damage a Sitter is liable for, when the responsible party can't or won't pay. It does not replace the responsibility of the parties involved and is not a pet-health or pet-insurance plan.

What it can help with

  • Eligible vet costs - for a pet injured during a covered, in-app booking, subject to the program's rules.
  • Property damage - damage a Sitter is liable for during a covered booking, as a backstop when the responsible party can't or won't pay.

Coverage limits apply; see current terms. We do not publish a specific dollar limit here while underwriting is being finalized.

Eligibility

  • The booking must be made and paid in-app through PetWalk. Off-platform arrangements are not covered.
  • The account must be in good standing and the booking must comply with our Terms of Service.
  • Claims must be submitted within the program's claim deadline (see below).
  • A minimum contribution (deductible) applies to eligible claims, and coverage limits apply - see current terms.

What's excluded

  • Pre-existing conditions.
  • Illness, disease and parasites (for example fleas, ticks, worms or kennel cough).
  • Bookings arranged or paid off-platform.
  • The Sitter's own injuries or losses.
  • Anything outside the scope, limits, deadlines or rules of the current program terms.

How to file a claim

  1. Seek any necessary care first - a pet's health and safety come first.
  2. Notify us as soon as possible by emailing claims@petwalk.ca with your booking reference.
  3. Provide supporting documents, such as itemized vet records, receipts, photos and a description of what happened.
  4. Submit before the claim deadline - late claims may not be eligible. Our team will review and follow up.
